Masks

A video from Easter 2011 of the Central Christian Church in Las Vegas shows us what we all want: to look good, to make a good impression, to impress people around us ... therefore we put on masks. Masks also help to protect us ... but is this what we really want: to live a life behind a mask? ... I think, everyone hopes to find a place where he/she is accepted, where he/she feels safe enough to take off the mask and to show his/her emptyness, confusion, past hurts, faults, weekness etc. ... and the good news is that this place exists: it is God ... in the relationship to Him we get to know that we are accepted as we are, that we are loved as we are ... this experience will heal us ... it will change our life, will change us totally ... to feel that we are loved by God although we are not okay will make it possible that we learn to accept us/to love us and others including our "drawbacks" .... and to become more and more the ones who God wanted us to be ... free and loving children of God who don't need to wear masks ... Lent is a good occasion to make this experience ... to turn round and to come to God ...
